I was born in Birch River, Manitoba, Canada, where Dad had bought a farm after the war. When I was about five years old, we moved east to a small village called Windsor Junction, near Halifax, Nova Scotia.
At left is the family homestead in Windsor Junction, Nova Scotia. This picture was taken in the spring of 1999. The house was originally built by my grandfather on Mum's side, William Henry Parnell. The house passed into my hands after my parents passed away.
Above is 1999 Mercedes C230 Kompressor that I bought new in March of 1999. This car had a 4 cylinder super-charged engine that produced 195 hp. It was a pleasure to drive, and we put 43,000 kilometers on it before selling it in July of 2000. The interior was black leather/black MB tex. Standard features included air conditioner, cruise control, AM/FM cassette, auto-dimming mirror, electric outside mirrors, defrost for the mirrors, power windows, central locking, and tinted windows. The only non-standard option was heated front seats.
The grey Mercedes 1987 190D, above, is my daily driver. The 'D' in the model name means that it is a diesel, and with that comes economical operation. The engine in this vehicle is the 5 cylinder fuel injected turbo-diesel model. This car features cruise control, power windows, tinted windows, central locking, remote mirrors, air conditioning, and othopedic seats. The interior is blue MB-tex. |
